As many DC kids do and did, he played ball day and night

He fell in love with the game, almost at first sight

When his feet, arms and maybe some yappin’ got to be fatigue, he had nobody to blame

All this let you know that he is worthy of being keeper of the bball flame

His focus is a little different now that some age has set in

But, deep inside, sometimes on the surface, there’s a fighting spirit ready to win

Just because he keeps fact, figures, records don't make him lame He decide long ago to be keeper of the BBall Dream and Flame

During his hey day, he played with the best and competed with them all

Urban Coalition, U of M, around town, wherever there was a ball

In fact his play, his accolades have him knocking on several halls of fame

Yet another reason to be keeper of the DC BBall Dream & Flame

The tenacity and desire to talk and be about ball all day every day

For The Penny Greene that we’ve come to know, there’s only one way

The website, DCBasketball.com will soon be household name

That’s what you do when you have assumed the mantle of keeper of the flame

It’s not over. Not by a long shot, things are about to start

Basketball will be recognized not just for athletes, but those who like its art

Teaching kids, spreading the legacy is now his and others’ aim Which makes him perfect to be keeper of the DC BBall Dream & Flame
